Kevin
Shanahan serves as Cleaire's Chief Executive
Officer. Shanahan is also the President of Cummins
West, Inc. and Shanahan
Equipment Company.
Under Shanahan’s leadership, Cleaire has developed a number of products that dramatically reduce diesel engine emissions. In five years Cleaire has experienced substantial growth in sales volume. Cleaire’s customer/client list includes FedEx, San Francisco MUNI, AC Transit, Norcal Waste Systems and the California Department of Transportation.
Before founding Cleaire, Shanahan was a member of the Carl Moyer Program Advisory Board and served on the California Air Resources Board (CARB) International Retrofit Committee. Shanahan previously served as National Sales Manager for Cummins Inc. and as a Vice President of Denver Freightliner, Inc.
Aside from his work with Cleaire, Shanahan is a member of the Sacramento Cleaner Air Partnership. Shanahan’s hobbies include building model trains, running, backpacking, and cycling. Shanahan lives in San Francisco with his wife Connie. top of page
Dr. Brad
Edgar is the President and Chief Technology Officer of Cleaire Advanced Emission Controls. Formed in 2001, Cleaire is a California based company focused on the development, manufacture, and deployment of products to reduce NOx and particulate emissions from diesel engines. The company specializes in retrofit technologies for the in-use population of diesel engines.
Dr. Edgar has spent his career working with engines and emissions. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and is the author of numerous papers and presentations in his area of expertise.
Dr. Edgar is the inventor or co-inventor of more than 10 patents and has received a number of awards for his work. Dr. Edgar, his wife Ankie, and their two children live in Oakland, California.top of page
Tom
Swenson has worked with Cleaire as Director of Sales and Verification since 2003. In this role, Swenson is responsible for supporting national sales through Cleaire’s distributor network, new market development and working with governmental agencies, such as the California Air Resources Board, responsible for reviewing and approving Cleaire products. Swenson interfaces directly with regional distributors and government regulators. Swenson is also responsible for Cleaire’s marketing communications.
Before joining Cleaire, Swenson spent ten years developing and implementing nationally recognized market-based vehicle and equipment emission reduction incentive programs for the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (SMAQMD). Two programs Swenson managed as part of the Mobile Source Division at SMAQMD were the Heavy-Duty Low-Emission Vehicle Incentive Program and the Sacramento Emergency Clean Air and Transportation Program (SECAT). From 1991 to 1993, Swenson worked for EA Engineering, Science and Technology providing technical support to the California Energy Commission’s school bus demonstration program.
Swenson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Sacramento, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of California.
A native Californian, Swenson grew up in the Bay Area and now lives with his wife Susan and son Blake in Sacramento. Swenson is an avid fly fisherman and enjoys home improvement projects.

Marc
Rumminger, Ph.D. is the Director of Science and Policy at Cleaire.
Dr. Rumminger received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
from the University of Illinois, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He has served
prestigious post-doctoral research fellowships in the field of combustion
at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg,
MD, and at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, California. top

Michael
Streichsbier, Ph.D. is the Director of Product Development at
Cleaire. Dr. Streichsbier is a native of Germany. He received is B.S.,
M.S, and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering at the University
of California, Berkeley. He has spent his career working on state of
the art emission control technologies.
