Cleaire Leadership Team

Cleaire has assembled a group of diesel emissions experts with extensive knowledge and experience in the field of emission control technology for diesel engines. Our leadership team is focused on designing, developing and manufacturing diesel particulate filters (DPF) for retrofitting today’s existing diesel engines. Our systems provide maximum diesel particulate matter (PM) emission reductions for a wide range of diesel applications, both on-road and off-road. Gale Plummer - Chief Executive Officer

Gale PlummerGale Plummer joined Cleaire Advanced Emission Controls in 2008 as Chief Executive Officer. In this role, Gale is responsible for the Cleaire’s overall operations including manufacturing, dealer administration, marketing, and product support. Gale will also be responsible for Cleaire's product line expansion and new market development in the both on-road and off-road diesel retrofit markets.

Most recently, Gale served as Executive Vice-President and General Manager of Cummins West, Inc. based in San Leandro, CA. In this role, Gale had responsibility for the Cummins and Komatsu business units, as well as the Emissions Repower and Retrofit Group which provided emissions compliance solutions for a broad range of customers. Prior to joining Cummins West and Cleaire, Gale accumulated over 25 years of experience in the heavy equipment and engine distribution business, working with Caterpillar dealers in Kentucky, Virginia and Arizona.

Bradley L. Edgar - President and CTO

Brad EdgarDr. Brad Edgar is the President and Chief Technology Officer of Cleaire Advanced Emission Controls. Formed in 2001, Cleaire is a California based company focused on the development, manufacture, and deployment of products to reduce NOx and particulate emissions from diesel engines. The company specializes in retrofit technologies for the in-use population of diesel engines.

Dr. Edgar has spent his career working with engines and emissions. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and is the author of numerous papers and presentations in his area of expertise.

Dr. Edgar is the inventor or co-inventor of more than 10 patents and has received a number of awards for his work. Dr. Edgar, his wife Ankie, and their three children live in Oakland, California.[ Top of Page ]

Tom Swenson - Vice President of Distribution

Tom SwensonTom Swenson has worked with Cleaire since 2003, currently serving as Vice President of Distribution. In this role, Swenson is responsible for supporting national sales through Cleaire’s distribution network, as well as new market development. Swenson also interfaces directly with regional dealers, government regulators, and is responsible for Cleaire’s marketing communications. Prior to this role at Cleaire, Swenson worked with governmental agencies, such as the California Air Resources Board, who are responsible for the review and stringent performance verification process of all Cleaire products.

Before joining Cleaire, Swenson spent ten years developing and implementing nationally recognized market-based vehicle and equipment emission reduction incentive programs for the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District (SMAQMD). Two programs Swenson managed as part of the Mobile Source Division at SMAQMD were the Heavy-Duty Low-Emission Vehicle Incentive Program and the Sacramento Emergency Clean Air and Transportation Program (SECAT). From 1991 to 1993, Swenson worked for EA Engineering, Science and Technology providing technical support to the California Energy Commission’s school bus demonstration program.

Swenson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Sacramento, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of California.

A native Californian, Swenson grew up in the Bay Area and now lives with his wife Susan and son Blake in Sacramento. Swenson is an avid fly fisherman and enjoys home improvement projects.[ Top of Page ]

Brian Webster - Vice President of Manufacturing

Brian WebsterBrian Webster has worked with Cleaire since 2002, currently serving as Vice President of Manufacturing. In this role, Brian is responsible for the operation of Cleaire’s manufacturing facility, located in San Diego. He leads a team of skilled individuals, all focused on the safe, timely and high quality manufacturing of Cleaire’s eight (8) products, as well as all prototype systems and components.

Prior to joining Cleaire, Brian held leadership roles in several different industries including aircraft, computers, and construction. Brian has always strived to develop his team members to their fullest potential, and to lead them to provide the best value and service to both external and internal customers.

Kevin Harris - Director of Business Development

Kevin HarrisIn his role as Director of Business Development, Kevin’s duties include influencing language in the rule-making process, understanding compliance regulations and available funding mechanisms, searching for short and long term revenue opportunities, and transferring that knowledge to the dealer network.

His diesel engine industry knowledge is drawn from his work at Cummins Western Canada and Cummins Engine Company, where he acted as an Account Executive for Western Star Trucks. His duties were split between applications engineering and marketing. Kevin then pursued a career with Hydrogenics Corporation, a leading supplier of zero-emission fuel cell engines and hydrogen generation equipment. In his role as Director of Business Development & Sales for North America, his duties included interacting with regulatory and funding bodies, as well as non-government organizations with the goal of accelerating the market adoption rate of fuel cells and hydrogen, and ultimately increasing revenue for the Company.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, and is an MBA graduate from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. [ Top of Page ]

Marc Rumminger - Director of Science and Policy

Marc RummingerMarc Rumminger, Ph.D. is the Director of Science and Policy at Cleaire. Dr. Rumminger manages the software and hardware development and implementation for Cleaire’s electronic module, as well as participating in verification, product development and other activities at the company.

Dr. Rumminger received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He has served prestigious post-doctoral research fellowships in the field of combustion at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, MD, and at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, California.[ Top of Page ]

Michael Streichsbier - Director of Product Development

Micheal StreichsbierIn his role as Director of Product Development for Cleaire, Dr. Streichsbier provides engineering oversight for the advancement and testing of new and existing emission control products. Additional responsibilities include the support of the company’s verification and product introduction processes as well as managing research-related activities. Michael is a native of Germany and earned his undergraduate degrees and Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley.[ Top of Page ]
